OVERVIEW
RockResorts are a collection of boutique, luxury resorts in stunning natural locations. Each property offers extensive activity options from golf, spa and skiing to fly fishing and falconry. Each property incorporates indigenous flavor into every guest experience, influenced by a strong connection to the natural habitat. The award-winning portfolio includes diverse four and five diamond hotels in seven states, with corporate offices in Denver, CO. In recent years, the brand has garnered top accolades from publications such as Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and DEPARTURES.
HISTORY:
RockResorts was originally created in 1956 by Laurance S. Rockefeller, with the development of Caneel Bay on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Other resorts formerly branded under the RockResorts identity include Little Dix on Virgin Gorda, The Lodge at Koele, Manele Bay on the Hawaiian island of Lanai, The Mauna Kea on the Big Island, Kapalua Bay Hotel on Maui, The Hyatt Dorado Beach, Cerromar Beach in Puerto Rico, The Woodstock Inn in Vermont and the Grand Teton Lodge Company in Wyoming. The Rockefeller family sold the brand in 1986 and the brand remained dormant for several years. Vail Resorts, Inc. a publicly held company traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: MTN) acquired and re-launched the luxury destination brand in December 2001,

Laurance Rockefeller’s philosophy of living in balance with nature and the universe provided the foundation for the introduction of Avanyu Spas into six RockResorts. Avanyu Spas continue to incorporate this philosophy into their daily operations by inviting guests to embark upon their own journey of celebration of our environment. Each visit to an Avanyu Spa envelops a guest with indigenous treatments and comforting surroundings that allow guests to further their connection with the Earth, while sheltered from the chaos of the outside world.

GOLF:
RockResorts provide access to golf courses by world-class designers, including Tom Fazio, Rees Jones, Greg Norman, and Arnold Palmer. The accolades include one of Golf Digest’s Top 75 courses in the country and some of the highest rated courses regionally. Guests of both The Lodge at Vail and the Pines Lodge have exclusive access to The Red Sky Golf Club,
featuring two championship courses designed by Tom
Fazio and Greg Norman. In the company of some
of the most prestigious golf courses in America,
both courses have been ranked in the Top 100 golf
courses to play in the United States in the September 2004 issue of Golf Magazine. At The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera, golf enthusiasts take advantage of the three championship golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Hale Irwin, and Tom Fazio, as well as a Dave Pelz Par-3 Short Course.The Keystone Lodge in Colorado has access to two of the state's finest courses: The River Course at Keystone and the Keystone Ranch Course. In Wyoming, play at the Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club while staying at the Snake River Lodge & Spa. The Gleneagles Golf Course at The Equinox Resort & Spa in Vermont is affiliated with the world-renowned Scottish course of the same name, and The Lodge at Rancho Mirage in California has preferred tee times exclusively for its guests at the famous Mission Hills Country Club.
SKI:
RockResorts are located in several of the country’s top ski destinations. The Equinox in Vermont is located just 25 minutes from Stratton Mountain, and La Posada de Santa Fe is a 40-minute drive from Taos ski resort in New Mexico. The Snake River Lodge & Spa in Teton Village, Wyoming is located at the base of the Jackson Hole ski area and is Jackson Hole’s first AAA Four Diamond rated ski-in hotel.
